PickNZ Career Changers

The horticulture industry offers a diversified range of occupations both on and off the orchard, farm and vineyard. It also caters for a range of skills and different levels of academic learning. It is not always essential to hold a qualification in horticulture nor is it imperative you come from an orchard or farm to find a place in the industry.

The skills acquired in other sectors and life experience can be readily transferred to the horticulture industry. This is especially true in the business, management, operations, sales and marketing arenas.

And if you have a passion for growing, then you'll love the production side of horticulture. A natural aptitude combined with a willingness to learn is a great place to start. You can retrain, learn on the job and/or start a National Certificate or Diploma in Horticultre, or take other university studies.
